How to setup e-commerce to my site?
Basically there are two ways of setting up e-commerce to your website.
1. Using merchant account.
2. Signing up for a sub merchant setup.
Merchant Account: An individual 'merchant account' is a pre-condition for subscribing to an online payment gateway. This requires an entire, due diligence banking process, which is paper-work intensive, and calls for third party validation for good credit rating. It is expensive as well as time consuming.
Sub Merchant Account: Here, all e-commerce transaction happens through the gateway of your merchant and he collects the money on your behalf. Subsequently he will pay you the collected amount with certain commission charged for every transaction.
This procedure is easy to setup and also cost effective. Even major businesses have signed up for sub merchant accounts.
Some leading players are:
1. Worldpay: http://www.worldpay.com
2. Paypal: http://www.paypal.com
3. CCAvenue: http://www.ccavenue.com
etc.
There are two procedures that you need to follow while setting up of e-commerce to your site.
1. Signing up procedure with the e-commerce service provider/gateway.
This is a simple procedure and mostly either involves online filling up of forms or filling and submission of some physical documents to the e-commerce service provider.
2. Implementation of shopping cart and checkout programs in the website.
Even though this is a simple procedure for general applications, it has to be configured and implemented by a programmer. Note that this is not at all a complicated procedure and your programmer should not charge too much money. It should be done within a couple of 100 dollars.
